Study Method & Duration

The NEBOSH International Construction Certificate can be studied via distance learning. You will be provided with course materials written by Phoenix which will also include study/revision/exam advice, support details and your study planner.

Support is offered by our expert health and safety tutors, whom you can contact by telephone or email. You will also have access to the Facebook group specifically for Phoenix distance learning students, where you can discuss any aspects of your studies with tutors
and other students.

You can enrol at any time. The course can be studied in your own time, with total flexibility around your available hours

Unit 1: IGC1 - Management of International Health & Safety

Unit 2: ICC1 - Managing and Controlling Hazards in International Construction Activities

  • Element 1 - Construction Management
  • Element 2 - Construction Site - Hazards & Risk Control
  • Element 3 - Vehicle & Plan Movement - Hazards & Risk Control
  • Element 4 - Musculoskeletal Hazards & Risk Control
  • Element 5 - Work Equipment - Hazards & Risk Control
  • Element 6 - Electrical Safety
  • Element 7 - Fire Safety
  • Element 8 - Chemical & Biological Health Hazards and Risk Control
  • Element 9 - Physical & Psychological Health - Hazards & Risk Control
  • Element 10 - Working at Height - Hazards and Risk Control
  • Element 11 - Excavation Work & Confined Spaces - Hazards & Risk Control

Unit 3: ICC2 - Practical Application

The Practical assessment is carried out in the candidate's own workplace. The practical must be completed within 14 days of the ICC1 written examination.


Candidates are assessed with written examinations for each of the two taught units. A unit certificate is issued denoting successful achievement of each unit. A Certificate award parchment is issued on completion of the two units and the practical assessment. Candidates need to pass all three units within a five-year period.
